Also, a nice little tool to check out is Avista’s Fuel Cost Comparison Calculator. You can plug in your home size, state of residence, energy efficiency, preferred thermostat setting, etc.  and the tool calculates out how much money you can save annually by switching to natural gas.

Kootenai Electric: Rebates Page

  • Heating and Cooling
    • Ducted heat pumps – $300-$1,400
    • Ductless heat pumps – $900
    • Geothermal heat pumps – $800-$3,000
    • Smart Thermostat – $100
  • Windows – $5 per square foot of glass
  • Energy Star Manufactured Homes – $1,150

To qualify, you must be a current KEC member. Other conditions may apply. See rebate forms for details. Complete the form and return to KEC with all required paperwork. Requests must be received within 90 days of purchase. Please allow four weeks for processing. Heat Pumps for Commercial Buildings:

Incentive of $100 per ton for heat pump upgrades to premium efficiency heat pumps and $250 per ton for the conversion of electric resistance heating systems. The incentive is available for commercial buildings that are 50,000 square feet or less.

Commercial Ductless Heat Pumps:

Incentive of $250 per ton of installed outdoor unit heating capacity for each ductless heat pump unit.

-Basic Ducted Heat Pump (HSPF 8.2/SEER 14): $300
-High Efficiency/Variable Speed Ducted Heat Pump (HSPF 9+/SEER14+):
-New Construction/Replacement/Upgrade: $500
-Adding to Electric Forced Air Furnace: $1,000
-Ground Source Heat Pump: $2,500
-Ductless Heat Pump replacing zonal heat: $800
-Ductless Heat Pump replacing an electric forced air furnace: $1,000

Residential Heat Pump Water Heater Rebates:
– 50-75 gallons: $400
– 75+ gallons: $600
